Writing.
Words can change the world. They can be powerful, funny, entertaining, poignant, persuasive. In the hands of activists and changemakers – or those that dream of making an impact – writing is a powerful tool.
Some people just seem to be able to write. They pick up a pen, laptop, or even a phone, and the words flow freely. They write. They get these words out into the world. Boom. Instant impact.
For most of us, it’s harder than this. We want to write, but it doesn’t ‘just happen’. Life gets in the way. To write alongside everything else we do, we need to have an idea, set an intention, make a plan, find the time, overcome any blocks or anxieties, find a pen, fire up the laptop, sit still, wait, go for a walk, find the pen again, remember what we wanted to write, and so on.
Writing sometimes happens by chance but usually it does not. And that’s why we need to make space for writing, to hone our skills, and make some realistic plans. Writing requires discipline. Scary, but true.
Write On Tuesdays is a six-week programme which covers the fundamentals of how to establish a regular and effective writing practice. It’s aimed at activists, changemakers, and anyone else who wants to make an impact in the world.
We look at the why, the how, the when, and the what, and yes, we write. This is not a talking shop. This is a writing space. Let’s do this. Together.
When is it?
Tuesdays from 7-9pm (GMT), on zoom, starting on Tues 6 January 2026, and finishing on Tues 10 February 2026.
What is covered?
Week 1 Getting started: who are we, what do we want, why do we want to write, what are our obstacles?
Week 2 Activism and changemaking: working out our own theory of change, who inspires us, and what is our role in this work?
Week 3 Finding an authentic voice: what we want to say, who is our audience, what is the best format?
Week 4 Finding collaborators and supporters: who can help us including books, resources, networks, people we know, each other?
Week 5 Creating an effective writing strategy: project planning, finding ideas, and exploring ways of incorporating writing time into our lives.
Week 6 Developing a sustainable writing practice: intention setting, firming up writing plans, creating timeframes and goals, ending the programme.
What is the format of each session?
We are on zoom and we make full use of the two hours. Turn up with a notepad and pen, or a laptop – something to write with whilst we are on the call.
We Talk. Write. Talk. Write. We use ‘writing provocations’ to help the writing to flow. It is amazing to see how much can be written in 10-20 minute writing slots! By the end of each session, we will have covered a lot together and written stuff on our own. We will also use out-of-session prompts and invitations to keep things rolling between sessions. By the end of the programme, the intention is for everyone to have kick-started a cool and unique writing practice that is effective, fun and sustainable. Bring it on.
Write On Tuesdays is led by Dr Max Hope. Zoom sessions will be recorded and the audio sent to people who are unable to attend in person.
How much does it cost and what is included?
Write On Tuesdays costs £255 for six sessions.
For UK participants, this includes a hard copy of the Soul Fire Writing Deck which will be posted to you to support with your ongoing writing practices.
